Dolby Pro Logic II reproduces multi-channel surround sound from a variety of sound sources, but also from 2-channel sources such as videos and CDs. Pro
Logic II uses matrix decoding to put the surround rear channels in stereo and covers the full frequency range during playback, which are drastic
improvements over Pro Logic.
Thanks to Pro Logic II you can now approach the thrill of 5.1-channel surround sound even from 2-channel sound sources.

Pioneer’s new GUI (Graphical User
Interface) has a resolution of 720 x 576
dots. This provides for high quality menus
and allows for a large yet super-sharp font
size so you get better legibility and easier
use. An easy Disc Navigator with
convenient portal structure simplifies
complicated operations by way of an
interactive interface presentation and
supports all types of discs in video mode,
DVD/DVD-R/DVD-RW/VideoCD/CD/
CD-R/CD-RW/MP3. The Disc Navigator will
guide you through all the necessary steps
to operate by asking simple questions.
New and improved GUI ( Graphical User Interface)
Our A/V receivers offer a wide range of pre-defined easy-to-use Original Surround modes, including 5/6-Channel Stereo, Expanded, Virtual Surround Back,
Phones Surround, Game and TV Surround mode. The 5/6-Channel Stereo simulates the acoustic environment of a regular stereo while using all the speakers
in the system to create rich Original Surround sound modes. The 6-Channel Stereo Mode is in effect when Surround Back speakers are switched on. If these
speakers are not available, you will have 5-Channel Stereo Mode. For multimedia lovers, the Advanced Theatre function enhances the sound field based on
the type of movie you are watching. Music Mode creates a 360-degree sound field around the viewer, creating the sensation of an acoustically perfect
theatre. It is ideal for music videos and musicals. Drama and Movie Mode create the acoustics of a medium-sized cinema and heighten your sense of reality.
For action movie lovers, Action Mode engulfs you in a wall of sound so you can enjoy all the power and speed. For users with only 2 front speakers, Pioneer
offers Virtual Surround Mode for channel separation that leads to a surround sound feeling.
The Expanded Theatre Mode lets you enjoy Dolby Pro Logic Sources (videotapes, satellite broadcasts, etc.) as if they were the latest in 5.1 or 7.1-channel
digital programs. The surround effect is so superb that you might consider giving up concerts!
Pioneer Original Surround Modes
Pioneer also offers a selection of Listening modes, like Midnight Listening Mode, Quiet Mode, Natural and Bright.
To get the most out of home cinema at low volume turn to the excellent Midnight Listening Mode. It adjusts subwoofer, rear and centre speaker levels, while
enhancing delay and compressing dynamic range, for greater enjoyment of cinema-like sound at low volume. If you feel the sound is too harsh or too sharp,
Quiet Mode reduces the bass and treble in the signal to smooth the sound. Or, if you want the full strength of bass, the S Bass Mode delivers a powerful
performance.
And to top it off, we now introduce two new listening modes, Natural and Bright, for an even better sound experience.
Listening Modes
Surround sound becomes even more impressive. With virtual surround back 6.1 the left and right rear satellite speakers create a phantom sound source
behind the listener, as if there were a speaker. Experience 6.1 surround sound from a 5.1 speaker set-up.
Virtual Surround Back
Expanded Theatre broadens the soundstage and dramatically enhances surround effects when listening to Dolby Pro Logic or stereo sources. If you use it
when viewing a restaurant scene, you might just be able to eavesdrop on the conversations going on outside of the main action or the subtle banging of pots
and pans in the kitchen. This mode also enhances DTS and Dolby Digital-encoded signals, for amazing surround sound.
